Mana Bar

Ben Croshaw, otherwise known as Yahtzee from The Escapist’s weekly video game review series Zero Punctuation, will soon be opening a video game bar, along with three other partners.  The bar will feature current generation game systems for customers to play with, as well as custom cocktails for people who wish to get their drink on.  From the looks of their Facebook page, the crew has been hard at work redecorating the building, located at 420 Brunswick Street in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, Australia.  The bar will be open to the public on March 20th, so if you’re in the area, check it out.

For more information, check out their Facebook page linked above (where all of the posted pictures are from), or the official Mana Bar website.

Australia??? Why can’t this be in like… I dunno some place closer, like the U.S., more specifically Washington, even more specifically Seattle. Yes. That is where one should be. Maybe I’ll open my own video game bar… hmmmm….

Happy Fucking Valentine’s Day!

So, I was at the theater the other day watching some movie and this preview came on with Will Smith’s son and Jackie Chan doing karate.  Ten seconds in I turned to my sister and said “holy shit, it’s like The Karate Kid, except with a black kid instead of an awkward white kid!” Roughly 20 seconds after saying that I learned that I was, in fact, correct.  It doesn’t look too bad.  I might go watch it, unless Hot Tub Time Machine comes out the same weekend, then I’m definitely going to go see that.

EDIT: I know I linked to the respective sites, but I totally didn’t think to look at the release dates. They don’t come out on the same day. Shame.

Robonaut 2

Robonaut sounds like its a robot from space, when it’s actually a robot for space.  NASA and GM have teamed up to make the most frightening thing imaginable. Sure, on NASA and GM think its a good idea.  GM needs the government money because they make cars nobody wants, and NASA knows how expensive it is to train a human to do things in space.  The problem comes when the robot no longer want’s to listen to us.

“This cutting-edge robotics technology holds great promise, not only for NASA, but also for the nation,” said Doug Cooke, associate administrator for the Exploration Systems Mission Directorate at NASA Headquarters in Washington. “I’m very excited about the new opportunities for human and robotic exploration these versatile robots provide across a wide range of applications.”

A “wide range of applications.” Like, hunting down mankind, enslaving mankind, exterminating mankind.  Things like that?

GM says it’s going to use Robonaut in its plants to help make safer cars. What does a robot know about human safety? Also I wouldn’t give it access to machinery.  It’s just going to start building friends.  And Robonaut may say it needs more robots to make safer cars but it’s actually building an army. An army that can build things and doesn’t need to sleep.  Great job.

[NASA]

Seriously??!??! Did they not watch of The Terminator movies? Or even 9? I predict that there will be a massive army of robots and they’ll end up ruling Earth and we will be their slaves, if they keep us alive.  Except this will be after the zombie apocalypse, because we’ll probably build robots to help protect ourselves so that we can sit on our asses and make the robots do all the work with their “wide range of applications.” Which will include annihilating mankind after they get rid of all the gross zombies.  So whoever does survive the zombie apocalypse, will still be royally f*cked.  Just a theory.
